Flutist Karen Johnson, whose artistry is described as ‘exquisite’ and ‘mesmerizing’ combines instrumental mastery, great beauty of sound, and a poetic sensibility in her distinctive and memorable performances.

Well-versed in the solo and chamber music repertoire, she continues championing new works and commissions by such composers as William Albright, Jeffrey Mumford, Thomas Benjam and David Froom.

A co-principal flutist of the Chesapeake Orchestra, Karen has recently teamed up with renowned pianist Carlos-Cesar Rodriguez and percussionist John Kilkenny to form the exciting Dancing Heart, an ensemble rapidly gaining popularity for its imaginative, compelling and interactive programs.

A New Work... A Tribute
A New Work... A Tribute Israeli composer, Gilad Rabinovich, is writing a piece for Dancing Heart to be premiered during the 2012-13 season.  The piece is for flute, vibraphone and piano and will be a tribute to my mother who passed away on Jan. 26, 2012.
