Flutist Karen Johnson, whose artistry is described as ‘exquisite’ and ‘mesmerizing’ combines instrumental mastery, great beauty of sound, and a poetic sensibility in her distinctive and memorable performances.
Well-versed in the solo and chamber music repertoire, she continues championing new works and commissions by such composers as William Albright, Jeffrey Mumford, Thomas Benjamin, David Froom and Kenneth Frazelle.
A co-principal flutist of the Chesapeake Orchestra, Karen has recently teamed up with renowned pianist Carlos-Cesar Rodriguez and percussionist John Kilkenny to form the exciting Dancing Heart, an ensemble rapidly gaining popularity for its imaginative, compelling and interactive programs.
